We are a Christian couple learning how to do this thing called life as we strive for our eternal goal of Heaven. Join us as we learn to lean on God, on each other, and on our family and friends. We have battled infertility, miscarriage, having a micropreemie, and now we are raising our sweet little girl who has mild Cerebral Palsy. We have been thrown alot of curves in this thing called life, but we have overcome each obstacle and are stronger than ever

All in good fun.

I found this funny post on twoweekwait.com. I thought it was hilarious and decided to post it here. It is soooo true. For those women who have really and truly been through infertility you will get a laugh. It's titled "How to pee on a stick"

Step 1...Pee on the stick. (must be sure to hold it under urine stream for a heartbeat longer than recommended just to be sure).

Step 2...Stare at stick while you continue peeing. Feel heart jump when urine passes over the spot where the line would be and it hitches for a second, then gets a dark line...then keeps going, taking your dark line with it to the test window.

Step 3...Place on bathroom counter. Pretend not to stare at it. Let's try to give yourself busy work to keep from looking at it. In fact, your toilet now gets cleaned once per day.

Step 4...Tell yourself you are expecting a BFN (Big Fat Negative). Then start to mist up when you see that it is, in fact, a BFN. Stare at the blank spot for a full minute before picking it up.

Step 5...First, go to window and check it under day light.

Step 6...Now, stand on toilet to be closer to light in ceiling. Check strip.

Step 7...Close one eye. Squint other eye.

Step 8...Turn on several lamps around house. Hold strip under lamp. Check strip.

Step 9...Hold strip OVER lamp. Check strip.

Step 10...Hold strip in front of lamp so light shines THROUGH strip, just in case.

Step 11...Pull stick apart. Hesitate for a heartbeat when you realize you are holding the still wet "wick" in one hand, then continue the destruction.

Step 12...Repeat Steps 5-10.

Step 13...Throw stick away.

Step 14...Pick stick back up out of trash.

Step 15...Repeat Steps 13 and 14 the rest of the day!

Second Post of the Day!

So last night we received a call that we needed to come to the church building because my brother in law, Jason, was going to get baptized. This was something Daniel and I had been praying about for quite some time so we were ecstatic. Well a few hours later we received another call from my Sister in law, Myra, telling us to come back to the building and that she was going to be baptized. Now Myra was baptized when she was younger but felt like she had not done it for the correct reasons and wanted to be sure about her soul. We were all super excited.

Well even though it was such a marvelous night I went home with a heavy heart. Ever since the miscarriage I have been having doubts myself. Adversity seems to put things into perspective and I had started to wonder about my soul. I was 12 yrs old when i was first baptized. So I too had been having doubts on whether or not I had been baptized for the correct reasons. I was up all night contemplating these things. I came to the conclusion that I had only been baptized because it was what I was "suppose" to do and not what I wanted and needed to do. So this morning I made the decision to be baptized into Christ. My sweet Godly husband did the baptism. I cannot tell you how happy I feel right now knowing that I have no doubts anymore. Since the miscarriage Daniel and I have become so much closer and Spiritually we have grown so much and now I KNOW that if I stay faithful I can live in Heaven one day. Its and awesome feeling.

So now I just want to share some verses from the King James Version of the Bible that led me to my decision.

Acts 2:38 - Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Mark 16:15-16 - And He said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Acts 22:16 - And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

John 3:5 - Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born of water and of the spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

These are just a few of the several scriptures in the bible concerning baptism. If you have any questions about why I was baptized or the act of baptism please feel free to contact me. And please continue to keep us all in your prayers.

What Nobody Told You About Trying to Coneive...

I found this on a website and it just really hit home. These are real quotes from real women going through infertility. It's things noone ever told you. I did delete quite a few of them because some were really graphic and while most of them were completely true and I have been through I felt like it would be TMI. So here goes...Things nobody told you about trying to conceive!

That unprotected sex doesn't necessarily lead to pregnancy.

That you would see your OBGYN/RE more often than your DH (Darling Husband) at O (Ovulation) time.

That the longer you TTC (try to conceive), the more PG women spring up around you.

That deep down inside, I can be a very jealous person.

That I should have gone to medical school like my mom wanted, because I've had to do so much medical research by now just to figure out what was wrong with me, I might as well be an M.D.

That I would know more about the female reproductive system and menstrual cycle than most of the doctors I go to.

That living your life in 2 week increments would be the norm

That you never knew how much you wanted to see those 2 pink lines......until only one shows up every month

That simply relaxing will NOT get you pregnant. (your dh has to do some work too)

That you have no control over some of the goals you set...

That wishing really hard for something doesn't make it happen, and staring at your chart doesn't make it change!

That one day my DH would know so much about how my uterus functions and what it looks like from the inside (thanks HSGs).

That a pregnancy doesn't always equal a baby.

That miscarriage is so common.

That I would wish we had started TTC earlier.

That my friends' pregnancies would start to make me sad instead of happy.

That I wasted ALOT of money on Birth control pills!!

That I'd EVER be willing to stab myself in the stomach every day in the hopes that it will help get me PG.

That it wouldn't happen the first time you didn't use birth control like we were led to believe in school.

That you wouldn't know how important a baby was to you until it took so long and you realized what you were willing to go through to make it happen.

That my DH is the most wonderful and caring man!

That it is insensitive to ask people when they are having a baby!

That women who do get pregnant are so very blessed!

That other people's "good news" of pregnancy makes me sad and when they tell me they have good news, I hope that they just saved a bunch of money on car insurance by switching to Geico.

That medicine and procedures are not a sure fire way to get pregnant but it is a sure fire way to lose money fast.

That had I bought stock in Clearblue Easy I'd have my mansion on St. Pete's Beach in FL by now.

That docs should prescribe Zoloft with Clomid.

That having flo show up makes you cry, no matter who's bathroom you are in.

That it does not get easier, each cycle is harder than the last.

Feeling like you wish your life away in 2 week increments.

That I wouldn't want to hold or see someone's baby because it just hurts way too much.

That I would splash urine on my face while taking apart an hpt (home pregnancy test) in the hopes there really was a 2nd pink line hiding in it.

That infertility is more common than you think.

That one day all of this will make us stronger.

That there is sometimes darkness (infertility) before the light (a baby).

That infertility is not as rare as I was led to believe.

That I would find it extremely difficult to be happy for other people's pregnancies and I would burst into tears upon hearing their news.

That it could hurt so much to lose your innocence.

That I am very bitter towards unmarried accidental pgcys, and slightly bitter towards married accidental pgcys.

That I'd be glad to know that I have PCOS - because at least I know what's wrong.

That I could spend so much time and money on figuring out what my body is doing (or not doing).

That I would have to rely on doctors to give me the final say-so on what I can or can't do (on a med/procedure break forced by my RE against my wishes)

That some people just say the wrong things.

That miscarriage would make me want a baby even more than before!

That I would resent someone who has been trying less time than me telling me "I know how you feel..."

That I would become addicted to POAS (pee on a stick) and not sleep at night because I couldn't wait to POAS in the morning!

That I would be so sad, and ashamed.

That when AF showed up you would feel broken and disfunctional.

That your friendships with your real life girlfriends would suffer because they got pregnant after being off the pill for 3 weeks.

That this would be, by far, one of the hardest things you will ever have to go through.

That the two little words of "just relax" uttered by everyone I know would enfuriate me beyond belief.

That someone would suggest adoption to me in order to get pregnant (because it happened to a friend of theirs) before I had even had any testing done.

That my friends who started TTC #1 around the same time we did would already be pregnant with #2 before we get pregnant with #1.

That the people around me would become more insensitive as time goes on. "It is so hard having a new baby, you just wouldn't understand." or "Be happy you're not tied down."

That I would watch a Baby Story every day... only to cry every day.

That I would have to listen to people complain about their children as if they were burdens while a child is the one thing in the world I want the most. Also, they sound as if they are trying to talk me out of having kids, like it is the absolute worst thing that could ever happen to me.

That I would yell at commercials on the TV (that "having a baby changes everything" one really gets to me. I can't watch it without snapping "So does not having one.")

That your body has its own mind.

That the broken heart you feel each month that is equal to the pain you feel when you lose a loved one.

Emotions are running Rampant!

So these last few days have been an emotional roller coaster. I cry at the drop of a hat. I think this has been the worst 2ww yet and I am not even finished. I just wanted to share some things that have happened lately.

First of all, yesterday my neighbor mad me SO mad. To the point where I almost went over and said something to her. Let me start off by saying that a woman probably in her late 50's early 60's lives next door and keeps two babies on a daily basis. Well I was laying in bed yesterday afternoon trying to rest and everything was really quiet. This meant I could pretty much here everything that was going on next door. The smallest child had apparently been put down for a nap. Well he started to cry, and I don't mean cry for no reason, this child was literally screaming at the top of his lungs and could hardly breathe. He obviously needed something. This already was enough to make me start balling my eyes out. I just wanted to go over there and pick that precious baby up. Then this horrible women proceeded to yell at this child saying "Shut Up! Just Shut Up! There is no need for all this! Just Shut UP!!!" Over and over again to the point where I was just furious. She said a few other things that I won't go into here but I was SO mad. I was about ready to go next door and say something to her but she heard me stirring around and started changing her tune and being nice to the baby. Mind you these are just two kids that she gets paid to keep so I will have my ears tuned in to see if it happens again so that I can catch these parents when they come to pick their children up and let them know what happened. This just hurt my heart so bad. People like that should not be allowed around children. This is one reason I am so thankful that I will be able to be a stay at home mom. If you don't have a family member to keep your children you never know how they are being treated. I am pretty positive that these women have no idea their children are getting yelled at like that. This woman probably puts on a great front. I just feel so bad for these babies.

On another note, watching American Idol last night was very emotional. I know that Scott would have never won the competition but I could think of at least 2 people who needed to go before him. He is such a doll and his facial expressions just tear at your heart. I cried like a baby when he left.

On a funny note just to let you know how completely crazy I have become with my crying spells, I was driving down the road today, going to meet Daniel for lunch. A commercial about Bob the Builder coming to town came on the radio and I started to ball. All I could think about was not having a child to take to this. So I'm going down the road singing the Bob the Builder song sobbing like a baby. Ha! I'm telling you, I have turned into a nut job! :)

Thoughts on Becoming a Mother

I have thought about adding this for quite some time. This is written by a woman who has gone through infertility. I have gone back and forth about whether to add it or not because I certainly do not want to offend the mothers out there who have not experienced this but are great mothers. But I decided to add it because it says so much of the way I feel. And after going into public day after day and seeing many parents who do not appreciate their children it makes it that much more intense. So please if you are a good mother do no be offended by this. If you have ever gone through infertility you will understand.

Thoughts on Becoming a Mother
There are women that become mothers without effort, without thought, without patience or loss and though they are good mothers and love their children, I know that I will be better.

I will be better not because of genetics, or money or that I have read more books but because I have struggled and toiled for this child.
I have longed and waited.
I have cried and prayed.
I have endured and planned over and over again.

Like most things in life, the people who truly have appreciation are those who have struggled to attain their dreams.
I will notice everything about my child.
I will take time to watch my child sleep, explore and discover.
I will marvel at this miracle every day for the rest of my life.

I will be happy when I wake in the middle of the night to the sound of my child, knowing that I can comfort, hold and feed him and that I am not waking to take another temperature, pop another pill, take another shot or cry tears of a broken dream.
My dream will be crying for me.

I count myself lucky in this sense;
that God has given me this insight,
this special vision with which I will look upon my child
that my friends will not see.

Whether I parent a child I actually give birth to
or a child that God leads me to,
I will not be careless with my love.
I will be a better mother for all that I have endured.
I am a better wife,
a better aunt,
a better daughter,
neighbor,
friend and sister
because I have known pain.

I know disillusionment
as I have been betrayed by my own body.
I have been tried by fire and hell many never face,
yet given time,
I stood tall.

I have prevailed.
I have succeeded.
I have won.

So now, when others hurt around me,
I do not run from their pain in order to save myself discomfort.
I see it, mourn it, and join them in theirs.
I listen.
And even though I cannot make it better,
I can make it less lonely.
I have learned the immense power of another hand holding tight to mine,
of other eyes that moisten as they learn to accept the harsh truth
and when life is beyond hard.
I have learned a compassion that only comes with walking in those shoes.
I have learned to appreciate life.
Yes I will be a wonderful mother.

People should think before they speak!

I just wanted to take the time today to share with you some of the stupid, insensitive, mean things people say. Over the past few months since the miscarriage and everyone finding out about our trying to conceive journey, Daniel and I have had to endure some pretty rough comments. I just want to share a few. Some of them you will probably wonder to yourself "Who in the world would say something like that?" Honestly its people you would never think would. I won't name names today because I don't want to hurt their feelings like they have hurt mine.

Here they are:

1. " Try not to be upset, think of all the nights you get to sleep through and not worry about a crying baby." Seriously! What are people thinking. I mean if they only knew what I wouldnt give to be up all night with a screaming baby. If they could only see how bad I want that.

2. " Why are ya'll so upset over the miscarriage? Your young. It's no big deal." Yeah its no big deal that we have been going through this journey for nearly 3 years, all with poking, proding, loads of money, extreme emotional ups and downs, and the loss of our son who was wanted more than anything. Yeah thats no big deal.

3. " So are you gonna keep going until you have a baby? I mean not with treatment but if you keep lossing you baby?" Yeah thats exactly what I want to think about. Having miscarriage after miscarriage. Thanks for that.

4. " So are you gonna try for adoption soon?" We are no where near ready for adoption. I CAN GET PREGNANT! and I am not ready to give up on having my own child. We arent anywhere close to needing to seek adoption. I'm not against it just not ready for it.

5. "Try not to stress. It's not good for you!" This one is my personal favorite. Anyone who has ever been through this knows that it is impossible to not stress! And its an insult to think that it is possible. It belittles everything we are going through.

These next few arent phrases just stupid things that have been said in front of me or brought up.

1. Someone told me I needed to come visit their daughter in the hospital who was having a baby. For real? You think I'm gonna come to a hospital, go to the L&D floor, and admire you having a baby when you are not even married? That's a negative.

2. I will have parents having a hard time with their child acting out at the moment say "Are you sure this is what you want?". NO! We are paying thousands of dollars every month and putting ourselves through extremely hard times all for something we don't want.

3. Also I get alot of people who will complain about their kids to me. They talk about how they were up all night with a fussy baby and got no sleep, or how their toddler is running around non stop and they are soooo tired, or how messy everything us because of their child, or how their child ruined their furniture with food or crayons. I REALLY dont want to hear it. At least they have that sweet precious child to do all those things. There are alot of parents who need to be more thankful for what they have.

I do occasionally see parents who really really enjoy their children and it is so comforting but even if you are having a bad day , which we all do, be careful who you complain to. Thank you to those who realize exactly what they have in their children and are thankful for them.

Well I think that's enough ranting for now. I could go on and on but I am choosing to move on and just realize that some people just lack people skills. Thanks for listening to me. Writing things down really is an outlet to your frustrations.

The Dreaded 2WW!

So I am currently in the dreaded 2WW (two week wait). This is the period where all I can do is sit an wait and hope that I am pregnant. It usually feels like the longest two weeks of my life! Its only the first day and I can tell this one is going to be extra long!

I finally got up the nerve to get started on Zachary's scrapbook. I went to Walmart today to get some pics printed out of different things to put into it but for some reason my zip file wouldn't work so that part will have to wait. I have had all the materials ready for it for quite some time but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. But for some reason I feel ready now.

Also Daniel and I have decided not to celebrate Easter with family. We usually hang out with his side of the family and watch the kids hunt eggs but we just aren't in the mood to do it this year. That would be yet another reminder that we don't have children and it would be just too hard to watch the kids. So we are leaving after worship Sunday morning and going to B'ham to have lunch and to shop around and just be away from everyone. Have some time to ourselves. I'm actually excited about it.

Anyway I'm just blabbing! I hope everyone has a great weekend!
