Complete Bedrest!

So here's the scoop. Wednesday morning I woke up with a migraine and extreme morning sickness. And I do mean extreme. I could not keep anything down. Couldn't take medicine for my head or my nausea without puking it back up. Well in the process of calling the doctor and being told that I may be going to the ER for IV fluids I began to bleed pretty heavily! Scared me more than anything so far. I assumed it was from the straining of the vomiting but was still very scared. Well I called my RE and he told me to call my OB. So I called and they called me in for an ultrasound and more blood work. Just to make sure. So my mom drove me and we met Daniel there. I had already prepared for the worst and just knew that I was in the middle of a miscarriage. Well I had my blood work first (which I have yet to hear back from) and then went and waited for my ultrasound. They called us back and we were about to get started when the ultrasound tech was called out of the room. So there I was laying on the table, Daniel standing next to me, both of us a nervous wreck, just waiting.....well after what seemed like an hour but was really only about 5 minutes we got started. She found the gestational and yolk sac right away which is what we saw on Monday. Then she found this small little flicker, barely noticeable which was our baby's heartbeat. It was only beating at 94 bpm which is a little low but considering it had just started beating that day or the day before she said it was probably normal and not to worry at all. Well everything as far as the baby looked good and I was not miscarrying which was great news but I was still bleeding. After looking around she discovered that I have a Subchorionic bleed. This is basically a blood clot that is on the gestational sac. Most of the time they resolve on their own and cause little problems but if they get big enough can cause a placental abruption. So I talked to the nurse at my RE's office yesterday and told her what was going on (they had not faxed over the ultrasound or blood work yet). She has put me on complete bed rest. This means I can get up to go to the bathroom and a quick shower but other than that I have to be in bed or in a reclining position at all times. I am currently waiting on my RE's office to call me and let me know if they are releasing me to my OB or not. The original plan was to stay with my RE for longer than last time but he thinks I will be able to be monitored better by my OB. So if I am released I don't know when my next appt. will be or if I will get to keep my ultrasound appt. for Tuesday. So everything is up in the air. But from reading about this bleed I do know that I will be monitored pretty much weekly until the bleed corrects itself. So I could be on complete bed rest for a long time! This should be interesting but I am willing to do whatever it takes. They say that standing up causes gravity to take effect on it and makes it more likely to tear away so I am trying to stand up as little as possible. I don't have a lap so currently I have a recliner turned to the side in front of my desktop with the keyboard in my lap. Very interesting. LOL. My mom is here during the day to help out and then Daniel has nights and weekends. So far it hasn't been horrible because I stay so tired anyway. And then the morning sickness has kicked in full force. I have been taking Zofran every 6 hours which keeps me from throwing up if I concentrate really hard but I have 24 hour nausea!! It's horrible but a much welcomed symptom. Anyway I will try to post as much as possible when I feel like it. Keep all of us in your prayers. Thanks!

Update!

So what a stressful last couple weeks we have had! And its not getting any easier.

To start off, as you know I had been spotting since Thursday but was told it was normal unless it got heavy OR bright red. Well I came home from worship Sunday and it was heavy AND Bright red and I was cramping pretty badly. So I panicked. I started crying cause I just knew that this was it. I called my RE and he called me back about 20 min. later. He said he thought I was ok but just for precaution I had 2 choices. 1. I could go to the ER and sit for hours waiting only to have an ultrasound by someone who is not familiar with OB ultrasounds or 2. I could call the on call doctor for my gynecologist here in Montgomery and see if I could get in for an ultrasound on Monday morning. After speaking to the on call doctor we decided that since my cramping was not sharp or on the sides and that I was not dizzy that we would wait until Monday. She too, felt that I was ok. We were to be there Monday at 8:45 but I was to be on bed rest for the rest of the day until the ultrasound.

Well that was a loooongg night! Daniel and I were both a nervous wreck. We went in yesterday morning for our ultrasound. We were told from the beginning that since I was only 5 wks and 4 days that we more than likely would not see a heartbeat yet. Of course I went in expecting the worst. On top of everything else they took us into the ultrasound room where we found out that we had lost Zachary. Well we started the ultrasound and the tech assured us that everything looked the way it should at this point. No heartbeat yet but there was a gestational sac and a yolk sac. (Which means not an ectopic pregnancy) She said my lining looked good and that she saw nothing wrong. So we left that appt. feeling pretty good. Of course it couldn't last. Went home and got the call from my RE. The nurse said that everything was ok and still going but that if I started to have a miscarriage there is nothing they could do. How great to just throw that in there so carefree. So of course this got me to thinking that there was something they weren't telling me. Her voice sounded grim the whole time and she is usually chipper. Well I got to thinking and thought maybe I should have seen a heartbeat. I have read on several websites that once your HCG level hits 10,000 you should see a heartbeat. Mine should be way over 10,000 by now. Of course I'm not sure because your HCG level usually isn't that high until about 6 weeks, and 6 weeks is when you usually see a heartbeat so I don't know if the HCG level is more accurate or the actual week is. So of course I have been stressing over that. I feel like I am on the verge of a nervous breakdown. I have only known I am pregnant for 2 1/2 weeks. How am I gonna get through the rest? And poor Daniel! He has to work, take care of me, and be stressed all at the same time. He has been just as stressed and some days barely gets any work done. Just please continue to keep us and the baby or babies in your prayers. (It was still to early to see if there are two). Pray that we have the strength to get through this. I go back on May 5th and should be able to see a heartbeat and know how many. Pray that I don't go insane before then.

Praise God!

So after a very long week and an even longer last couple of days we received our results today. Let me start off by saying on top of the stress we were already under I began spotting yesterday mid morning. I cried all day yesterday because I just knew it was bad news. I also started cramping. Well Daniel stayed home from work with me today because I did not want to be home alone when I received the bad news. We went in for bloodwork this morning around 8:45 and were home by 10:00. They did not call until 3:15. That was the longest 5 hours ever!!!! We were sooooo stressed and bout to have a nervous breakdown. It was ridiculous. Well we got the call and guess what? It's GREAT news! My Hcg level had more than made up for the last number. It was only suppose to be about 4800 and it is at 8200!! So we are still on board for the possibility of twins. As far as the spotting she said that is VERY common at this stage and is nothing to worry about unless the pain gets severe (which it isn't) or the spotting became heavy. (which it hasn't). So she said everything is going great and we will have our first ultrasound on May 5th. I will be 6 weeks and 5 days. We should find out by then just how many. SO please continue to keep us in your prayers as you already have. You will never know how much your prayers mean to us. God is SO GOOD!!

Here is a picture of Trixie waiting on the call today. She was stressed too. haha

Prayers Needed!`

Please keep us in your prayers tommorrow. I go in tommorrow for more bloodwork. This has been a long stressful week. There has been lots of praying and emotional breakdowns going on. Pray that my levels have increased appropriately and that this pregnancy continues with no complications. I will post more later!

Not so Great News!

Ok, I need everyones prayers. I went back today for more blood work and found out that my HCG level was at 1177. Now I would think this is good based on all the research I have done on the internet saying that the HCG level should double every 48-72 hours. However, my doctor has a standard of doubling every 48 hours only. So according to them I'm not meeting the criteria. She said not to freak out just yet since it did go up and it went up by 81%. (anything above 60% is considered ok) but that they would need to monitor me more closely. I have to go back in on Friday to have the levels checked again. And then on top of that, after telling me not to freak out just yet, she proceeds to tell me that with these levels I am at a higher risk for a miscarriage. How am I not suppose to freak out? I mean seriously. I'm stressing. So please just pray for us that everything turns out ok. I'm not sure I can handle another let down.

God is SO Good!

It's official! We're Pregnant! I've known since Sunday morning but I went in today to have my blood levels drawn and it is now official. My levels were 487! Which is really high...it should only be around 100 at this point. So the nurse said...are you ready....that the egg could have split!!! Not 100% sure but she said not to be shocked! So we could be having identical twins. What a blessing!!! I will go back on Monday to make sure that my levels are increasing as they should.

We are so excited and nervous all at the same time. I'm going to try my hardest not to worry and just enjoy this pregnancy.

Here is how it went down. Saturday night I decided to take a test just to see what would happen. I knew it was still too early (6 days before my next cycle should start) but I could'nt resist. I took the dollar tree brand which are great by the way except for the fact that they are notorious for evaporation lines. These are lines which make the test look positive when in fact they aren't. They are so faint though you really have to be looking for it. Well Sat. the faintest of lines showed up and I told Daniel this has to be an evap line. It was so hard to see and you had to be in a certain light and it was crazy. Well of course I couldnt sleep all night because I needed to know if it were positive or not. Well Sunday morning we were planning on leaving around 6:30 to go to worship service in B'ham and do some shopping and other things. Well I woke up at 4:30 because I had to go to the bathroom and I could not wait any longer. I took another dollar tree test and it was darker this time but still very very faint. So I still was not sure it was a positive. So since the dollar tree brand work by peeing in a cup I still had my urine and decided to do the digital test that I had bought. I knew it was a long shot because it was still 5 days before my cycle was to start and I just knew I was wasting that expensive test. That was the longest 3 minutes of my life!! I was completely shocked when it popped up "pregnant" and I ran in threw on the light and jumped in the bed, waking Daniel up, shoving the stick in his face saying "Look! Look!". It took a minute for him to register what was going on but he was so shocked and excited. Of course we could not go back to sleep either. Well we left and went to B'ham to worship and then went and shopped a little and then ate at The Cheesecake Factory. It was sooooo good! All the while we are just wondering can this be real? We had counted out this cycle because I only had one mature follicle. Well many of the shops were closed for Easter so we ended up seeing a movie and then driving home. We were planning on going to Sunday night service at Grandview Pines but we just had to rush home and let me take a different brand of test than I already had and it popped up positive very quickly. We decided to tell my parents after services.

On the way home from services we decided to check our mail because we had not checked it on Sat. And guess what was there? The onesie that I had ordered off the internet a week or so ago before I knew I was pregnant! How cool is that. And I just wanted to thank my friend Tiffany for giving me the idea for this onesie. I had seen onesies that said "Mommies answered prayer" but that just didn't seem right since Daniel had been through all of this too, so I went to makeaonesie.com and made one that said "I am an answered prayer".

We are so thankful for all the many prayers that have gone up on our behalf. You will never know how much that has meant to us. We ask that you please continue to keep us in your prayers as the next few months will be tough for us. Pray that this pregnancy has no complications and we will have a happy healthy baby in Dec. I will know better later but according to the internet my due date is Dec 26th. Merry Chirstmas to us!

Busy Busy

Sorry for not posting yesterday. I was gone pretty much all day. My niece Addison had surgery at the children's hopital yesterday so I was there a good portion of the day. It went really well though. It was suppose to be a pretty major surgery with a pretty large incision but they were able to do it laproscopically which hopefully means a quicker recovery. It was still pretty major but better than expected. She is in the Special Care Unit right now and is hoping to get in a room soon. She is almost two so keep her in your prayers. I got home from there around 3:30 and left again at 5:30 to go watch Daniel play softball for his company team. He had two games, one at 6:20 and one at 8:20. They won one and lost one. It was sooooo cold. Anyway sorry for the quick update. Still pretty busy. Will update more later and catch up on Easter.
